The Team

These are the people who make up the current team of Scarborough Coastguard along with a brief description about them and their background.

 

 

Mark Appleby

Station Officer

Scarborough 1

Joined the team in July 2003 becoming Deputy Station Officer in May 2006, then Station Officer in May 2008. Previously Senior Helmsman on Scarborough Lifeboat serving for 11 1/2 years. Works for Northern Powergrid as a Production Manager. Known as Officer Dibble. Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder

Jamie Staveley

Deputy Station Officer

Scarborough 2

Joined the team in October 2006, becoming Deputy Station Officer in May 2008. Self employed as a Car Valetor. Known to the team as Rodney due to his liking for sitting at a local seafront cafe drinking coffee while most people are working. Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder

Tony Dyer

Coastguard Rescue Officer

Scarborough 3

Joined the team in September 2009. Now retired Tony used to be area commander for North Yorkshire Fire Brigade. Known as Fireman Sam.   Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder

John Scott

Coastguard Rescue Officer

Scarborough 4

Joined the team in July 2007 after spending 5 years on
Scarborough Lifeboat. Self employed owner of JMS drain services. Known as a lookalike for Wallace (& Grommit).

Mark Jenkinson

Joined the team in October 2006. Self employed working as a soap and sponge technician (Car Valetor). Often seen operating a feather duster in the Sector Office. Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder

Carl Robinson

Coastguard Rescue Officer

Scarborough 6

Joined the team in July 2008. Previously on the launch crew with Scarborough Lifeboat. Carl is a sales rep for a local electrical company. Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder

Steve Evans

Coastguard Rescue Officer

Scarborough 7

Joined the team in November 2011. Steve previously served on Filey Lifeboat before moving to Scarborough.

Ryan Walker

Coastguard Rescue Officer

Scarborough 8

Joined the team in November 2011. Ryan was previously a volunteer with the BDMLR rescuing marine animals.

Joined the team in December 2008. Works at a local engineering firm. Known as Shaggy from Scooby Doo fame. Qualified Ambulance Co-Responder
